Switching to natural chocolate helped clear my skin

Switching to natural chocolate helped clear my skin

If you have struggled with acne I'm sure you know and understand the struggles involved in trying to clear it up or manage breakouts. From trying every product under the sun to find one that works best with your skin, to being aware of the foods and drinks you consume. There are so many avenues you can go down to find the cause, it can be a very exhausting and emotional journey.

Here are a few things that helped me in my journey!

Being aware of how you react to refined sugars and processed foods. I found a connection between the food I ate and my skin breaking out, this is where I switched out some of the products I was consuming for a natural option. I found foods and drinks that I LOVED and that were nourishing my body and really embraced them. As most women do, I really craved chocolate in the lead up and when I was on my period switching from a chocolate that full of refined sugar and dairy to Her Chocolate which is Vegan and refined sugar free really made a difference as I could still enjoy a treat without the aftermath of a breakout and feeling sick in the tummy.

Keeping your skin clean is something that is so simple yet makes a huge difference. Use a gentle cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, and sweat from your skin. Be sure to wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. Using a silk pillowcase is also really beneficial as silk is antibacterial. Also, NO touching or picking! This will help to prevent the spread of bacteria.
Manage stress, stress can trigger hormonal imbalances that can lead to acne. Meditation, exercise, talking to a friend or therapist, or even doing things to fill YOUR cup can help reduce stress and make you feel good.
Your skin can often reflect what is going on internally so it is a great idea to check in with yourself, how are you feeling physically and emotionally ? and is there anything else you can do to improve these areas of your life?
I hope this helps xx
